Coxsackie-Athens Middle School
Three structures provide more than 65,000 sq. ft. of new learning space for the additions to the Coxsackie-Athens Middle School, located in Coxsackie, NY. Joining the elementary school with the high school, the middle school houses a classroom wing, music wing, cafeteria, and is highlighted by a state-of-the-art library and media center. To accomdate the open feel of the roof glazing and curtainwall system, steel moment frames were utilized to provide the structure with stability. The new gymnasium addition serving both the middle school and high school was framed with a cross-braced steel frame and steel roof joists to take advantage of space and keep construction costs to a minimum.
Ryan Preston was the project engineer for the design of the three Coxsackie school additions while with the DiSalvo Ericson Group.
